It can be said that Autism is a neurological disorder. There has been some injury to the child. What CST can do for those children is significant and beneficial. Some spectrum children are very calm and mild. Some are very anxious and excitable. These children benefit the most from CST. An underlying principle of CST is the relaxed body performs better. Getting the muscles and nerves of the neck, shoulders and back to relax can significantly reduce the excitability of these children.

I won’t go into the RAS (Reticular Alarm System) here. That’s too much neurological science and people usually glaze over when that conversation comes up. But feel free to ask me about it.

Here is the scenario. If you have auditory processing issues, you probably don’t communicate with your group/family in the way they normally communicate. It could follow that you might always be on high alert, anxious, because you may not be aware, or pick up on cues, that something is happening, changing, going on.

When I meet the children “Where they are”, they will more readily relax, calm and slow. Rather than making them do something, I get them to relax and allow them to listen to their body. When they relax and listen, they can be more responsive and less reactive.

Eventually, this brings them to being more present, less anxious, allowing them to follow three-step tasks, attend to Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and allows their development to proceed further and faster.

I can say the mother of the screaming 3 year-old non-verbal autistic boy didn’t think that I would be carrying her 7 year-old semi-verbal boy out from a session sound asleep. It takes time, but the results are plentiful.

Here is what some of the mothers of children with autism have to say about my work.

My son, Michael, is 12 and in the ASD spectrum.  I attribute all of the progress he has made over the years to Craniosacral Therapy.  When issues arise, big or small, Kenny is always there to make it better and push him through to more progress.  It scares me to think about what my sons life would be like without Kenny and his gift of CST.

Ken is called the "kid whisperer" for a reason.. He can get our kids to
relax and calm down. I have a hyper active child and when he walks out of
Ken's office he is a different kid altogether - calm and composed. There are
times when I have called Ken at night asking him to work on Ankush when he
had severe sleep issues. He has given ME cranio sessions and I was snoring 5
mnts into the session. It works!!

On top of being a great therapist, he is a great human being. My kids were
in a car wreck few years ago and he came rushing home to work on my kids and
our attendant who was driving the car. How many people would do that? For
Ken, it's all about his passion for making people feel better & not about
figuring out how to take parent's money with fake promises.

Mom to Ankush, 14yrs diagnosed with Autism.

Another mom says her Speech Therapist always knows when her son has been to CST before speech. He’s much calmer and focused.
